13ᵗʰ SWE-RAYS workshop
The 13ᵗʰ Annual Workshop for Young Radiation Researchers was held in Lund August 20–22, 2025.
SWE-RAYS’s 13ᵗʰ workshop took place in Lund from August 20th to 22nd. We were warmly welcomed at Fysikum at the Department of Physics at Lund University, who kindly hosted us in their facilities – a big thank you to them!
The workshop featured a rich program with 17 oral presentations, 2 posters, and a total of 28 participants from across Sweden. Attendees enjoyed exciting new research results, engaging discussions, and valuable networking opportunities.
We were also delighted to welcome several inspiring invited speakers:
- Stuart Ansell, MAX IV – Modeling and Visualizing Radiation Risk: From Simulation to Dose-Probability Curves using facility size models
- Kasper Andersson, NKS – NKS for young scientists
- Pernilla Carlsson, Lund University – Career “planning”
- Andrzej Wojcik, PIANOFORTE – Pianoforte – The European Partnership for Radiation Protection Research
- Mattias Jönsson, Barsebäck – The end of a nuclear power plant
- Crister Ceberg, Lund University – FLASH – instant radiotherapy
In addition to the scientific sessions, we also shared a memorable welcome dinner at Osteria Cucco, which provided a great opportunity for informal networking and social exchange. The workshop was then rounded off with an exciting visit to the MAX IV facility, giving participants a unique insight into one of the world’s most advanced synchrotron radiation laboratories.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors:
- Centre for Radiation Protection Research (CRPR)
- ndec (Oscar Ågerstam)
- Ligand Tracer (Hadis Westin)

And, of course, a big thank you to all participants who contributed with their presentations, posters, and discussions – you are what makes SWE-RAYS such a vibrant and valuable forum for young researchers in radiation protection and radiation science!
We are already looking forward to next year’s edition of the workshop, and hope to see both familiar and new faces joining us to share research, build networks, and be inspired.
Best regards,
The SWE-RAYS Board
