The Board
For the establishment phase of the SWE-RAYS network, a steering committee was appointed at the first national workshop in August 2012. In December the same year this steering committee officially formed the association, accepted the bylaws, and was elected as the first board of the association. Now, the board is elected for two years at an annual meeting. Any member can nominate themselves or a colleague.
Mikael Elvborn (Chairman)
Department of Medical Radiation Sciences, Institute of Clinical Sciences, University of Gothenburg.
PhD student in radiobiology, optimization of peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT), studying effects of fractionation schemes.
Martin Hjellström (Secretary)
Department of Medical Radiation Sciences, Institute of Clinical Sciences, University of Gothenburg.
PhD student in radiation protection, working with medical gamma cameras from a radiation protection/emergency preparedness point of view.
Milagrosa López Riego (Treasurer)
Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW), Stockholm University.
PhD student in the field of radiation biology, focusing on the genetic and epigenetic changes in human cells after exposure to low doses (LD) and low dose rates (LDR) of varying qualities of radiation and the search for a biomarker of radiation exposure. Ultimately, aiming to obtain a better quantification of LDLDR ionizing radiation-induced cancer risk and contribution to radiation protection.
Nadia Boroumand (Webmaster)
Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW), Stockholm University.
PhD student in radiation biology, investigating the cancer related changes in lung epithelial cells upon exposure to radon and other stressors such as smoking and nanoparticles. She aim to further the understanding of mechanisms between radiation and chemicals.
Nishte Rassol (Board member)
Department of Medical Radiation Sciences, Institute of Clinical Sciences, University of Gothenburg.
PhD student in radiobiology.
Tabassom Mohajer Shojai (Board member)
Department of immunology, genetics and pathology, Uppsala University
PhD student in medical radiation science, exploring the potential combination radioimmunotherapies (RIT) and other cancer therapies such as radiosensitizer and immune checkpoint inhibitors for colorectal cancers.
Frida Westerbergh (Board member)
Department of Medical Radiation Sciences, Institute of Clinical Sciences, University of Gothenburg.
PhD student in nuclear medicine, specializing in SPECT imaging and the development of techniques that could improve diagnosis and therapeutic outcomes in radionuclide therapy of metastatic cancer.
